Acknowledge and assign a repair

Acknowledge

Acknowledging means "I have seen this." It moves a New repair to Acknowledged and records who did it and when.

  1. Find the repair in the list.
  2. Choose Acknowledge.

You can skip this step: Start works on a New repair too.

Assign

Assigning records who is doing the work. You can assign any repair that is not yet resolved, and reassign it later.

  1. Choose Assign (or Reassign if someone is already on it).
  2. In Who is doing the work?, pick a name from your vendor list, or type one.
  3. Save.

A name you type that is not on your list yet is added to your vendor list, so you can pick it next time. A name that matches an existing vendor (ignoring capital letters and extra spaces) uses that vendor and does not create a duplicate.

Nobody is told they have been assigned. The vendor has no login and receives no message.

See what has happened

Choose History on a repair to see who did what and when: reported, acknowledged, assigned, started, resolved and closed.
